With Apple officially announcing the release date for its highly anticipated Vision Pro headset, this mixed-reality device is a significant leap forward for the world in Mixed Reality.

Pre-orders for the Vision Pro opened in mid-January, allowing eager customers in the US to secure this cutting-edge device ahead of its official release. However, Apple has not yet revealed a launch date for the UK market.

The Vision Pro, promises a unique mixed-reality experience. With 256GB of storage and innovative eye-tracking technology designed to accommodate users with partial vision, Apple aims to redefine the landscape of augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), extended reality (XR), and mixed reality (MR).

Despite the excitement surrounding the Vision Pro, Apple faced challenges in production, leading to a notable reduction in its initial production forecasts. Originally estimated at one million units, the projection has been revised to 400,000 units for the year 2024.

In an attempt to distinguish the Vision Pro from existing devices, Apple has urged developers to brand their apps under the category of “spatial computing,” discouraging the use of terms like AR, VR, XR, or MR. This move aligns with Apple’s commitment to innovation and redefining user experiences.
